Brand Tags

Brandtags.net is a very interesting social experiment about the idea of what defines a brand. The basic idea of this site is that a brand exists entirely in people's heads. Therefore, whatever it is they say a brand is, is what it is. When you see the logos, type the first word or phrase that pops into your head. Afterwards, click on the See What Other People Think link. The most popular words or phrases are distinguished by size. Its amazing to me how I didn't immediately think of the most obvious tags for any of these.••••

Oh wow, this is ironic because my coworker and I were JUST discussing this very thing not too long ago. This tagging style is something we've been noticing a lot on websites and blogs. At first I thought that it was a stylistic decision, but soon realized that it had more to do with SEO and tagging, etc. But really, thank you for posting more about this! one crew mind i tell ya....

obsessed [obviously] because i'm a sucker for social experiments/branding/etc. honestly, stylistically i think that the all lower-case, size-by-popularity thing is a bit... done [like it's nothing i haven't seen], but i love the idea behind it enough to overlook it. also, there's a fun "guess the brand" where you can do this in reverse and try to determine how people conceptualize certain brands.
