Some very clever packaging...

In CVS the other day, my sister Kate (a Child Development minor) pointed out to me this really smart product design for Squid Soap, a kid-friendly dispenser that turns hand-washing into a pseudo game. The idea is that a child stamps their hand with the inky pad on top of the soap, encouraging them to wash thoroughly until the stain comes clean. I may not be a mom, but I can definitely appreciate the pure genius of this concept– and it seems I'm not the only one! I finally got around to browsing HOW's Design Annual today, and this product received special kudos for its smart package design. The logo wasn't mentioned, but in my opinion it's also pretty clever (even by adult standards)– the often cliched use of a child's hand takes on such a fun double meaning here. It was no surprise when I read that the design firm was none other than Pentagram's Austin office. Is it wrong that I want Squid Soap in my bathroom now, too?

Just as I suspected! This post was more of a subtle hint than anything else...
