I love summer for many reasons, but one reason in particular is baseball. It’s the one sport I enjoy watching and will actually pay money to go to a game. While none of us are strangers to our favorite major league teams, mine being the Red Sox, an often over looked baseball league is the minors.
The wonderful thing at minor league baseball is the absolute audacity of the team names: The Batavia Muckdogs, Brevard County Manatees, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers to name a few. With these delightful tongue twisters comes an equally interesting logo. Minor League logos are so completely ironic and innocently tacky, you can't help but love them. Its everything you've ever been tempted to do on a logo, but would probably be fired if you did. Drop shadows, outer glows, gradients, flames, stars...you name it! It’s the one exception that I can think of where breaking all rules calls for a great logo. It’s one....two...three strikes and you created a great logo!
