PARK(ing)

If you were in San Francisco last Friday (September 19) you might have had a difficult time finding parking...well, more difficult than usual! Reason being? PARK(ing) Day 2008! "PARK(ing) Day is a one-day, global event centered in San Francisco where artists, activists, and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spots into 'PARK(ing)' spaces: temporary public parks." Check out the Flikr set here for more photos. •••

I love this! What a cool idea. I think Texans would seriously panic if that happened here.

Texas would not panic, they'd just drive over the parks with their huge pick-ups and walk away...

I've seen this in Boulder too! I think it's neat, even if drivers get annoyed a bit. How many people really NEED to be driving downtown in cities with great public transportation? Thanks for the pictures!

I love this, BUT, would be annoyed. Only because I have a car. I get upset by walks promoting cures for deadly illnesses...whatever, get out of my way. If I didn't have a car, my tune would definitely change because this looks like fun!
