Will Cotton

As many of the Crew members may remember from our final senior projects, one of my favorite contemporary painters is Wayne Thiebaud. It could be because of his use bright colors and soft painting technique or simply because of the delicious subject matter. I recently came across the portfolio of Massachusetts' painter Will Cotton, who's candy and sweets series is slightly reminiscent of Theibaud's work.Cotton's work can be described as fantastical (if that's a word) and the presence of woman in his paintings has an almost dream like quality. The woman below reminds me of a satirical approach to a Marie Antoinette portrait. ••••
