New Red Sox

Residents around the city and beyond took notice Thursday when the Boston Red Sox revealed their redesigned logo and uniforms. The uniforms were unveiled Thursday at a special media event. The biggest news of the event was likely the redesigned logo, and the choice of the "Hanging Sox" as the primary logo. Many fans will recognize the "Hanging Sox" logo as the reincarnation of a logo that has been used by the club since 1931. "Certainly the 'Hanging Sox' has an iconic value that transcends anything else in our assortment of brands and logos," Red Sox chief operating officer Mike Dee said of the new logo. "To have it be defined and standing alone is certainly the right thing to do."

I am still trying to wrap my head around this one, but there is something screaming inside of me saying, "don't mess with anything red sox!" Thoughts?

agree… it looks kinda silly alone i think. i mean it's good they didn't stray from tradition, but i don't know why they felt the need to do anything at all.

I think I'll hold on to my "B" cap. I think this is more about generating revenue for the MLB and the franchise and less about bringing something fresh to Fenway.

The newish logo is traditional looking though...I'll give them that much.
