In a recent post, we posed the question: is graphic design art? I have recently come across a designer/artist that so fluidly and successfully combines illustration and design that it makes answering the question simple: hell yes, graphic design is art! Every aspect of his designs are one-of-a-kind and original because of the strong emphasis on illustration and original artwork. Fine art elements are brought together and layered in his designs to create texture, movement and depth. You can also see the obvious influence of music (yes, another form or art) in his designs.
